# What's in a report
> The measurements and diagrams included in a BidEngine roof report, and how to bid from them.
Every roof is measured by an estimator rather than generated automatically. The report is built to be bid from directly.
## The deliverable
A completed report gives you the numbers you need to price a roof:
* **Total roof area**, expressed in squares
* **Pitch** for each roof facet
* **Linear measurements** — ridge, hip, valley, rake, eave
* **Facet breakdown**, so you can see how the total is composed
* **Roof diagram** identifying each facet
## Reading the diagram
Facets are labeled individually and correspond to the rows in the measurement breakdown. When you're checking a number against what you see on site, work facet by facet rather than comparing totals — a total that looks off is usually one facet that was interpreted differently.
## Bidding from a report
Measurements typically land within a square of a careful hand measurement. For tight bids, two things are worth confirming yourself:
**Waste factor is yours to set.** Reports give measured area. They don't apply a waste percentage, so add your own based on the roof's complexity and the material you're installing.
**Verify layers and decking on site.** A measurement from imagery cannot tell you how many existing layers are on the roof or what condition the decking is in. Both change your cost materially.
## When imagery is the limitation
Measurement quality depends on the imagery available for the property. New construction, recent additions, and heavy tree cover can all mean the available imagery doesn't match what's on the ground today.
If you know a property falls into one of these categories, say so when you submit — the estimator can flag it or ask for supporting photos instead of guessing.
