# Submit your first report

> Everything a measurement request needs, and what happens after you submit it.

A measurement request takes about a minute to fill out. This page covers each field and what happens once the request is in.

<Info>
  Your first three reports are free and no credit card is required, so you can run a real property through the process before committing to anything.
</Info>

## What you'll need

Have the property address handy. If you want a proposal back alongside the measurements, you'll also need the homeowner's contact details.

## Filling out the request

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose what you want back">
    Two options:

    * **Detailed roof report** — measurements and diagrams only.
    * **Roof report and ready-to-sign proposal** — the same report, plus a proposal built from your pricing that the homeowner can sign.

    Pick the second option if you intend to present to the homeowner directly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the property address">
    Start typing the street address and select the match. This is the only strictly required field for a measurements-only report.

    <Tip>
      If the address is new construction or the pin lands on the wrong structure, note it under **Additional information** so the estimator measures the right roof.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add homeowner information">
    First name, last name, phone number, and email. These populate the proposal and any homeowner-facing documents.

    Optional for a measurements-only report.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add roof information for the proposal">
    If you asked for a proposal, this is where the details that affect pricing go — material, layers, and anything else that changes the number.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add any additional information">
    Free-form notes and special instructions. Use this for detached structures, which building to measure on a multi-structure property, or access concerns.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit the request">
    Select **Submit request**. The request appears in your requests list and an estimator picks it up.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## After you submit

Reports typically come back in about 30 minutes. You'll find completed reports in your measurements list, and you can download the report or open the proposal from there.

If something doesn't look right, you can [request a revision](/reports/accuracy-and-revisions).

## Multiple structures

If a property has more than one structure — a house plus a detached garage or shop — say so explicitly in **Additional information** and name which structures you need measured. Otherwise the estimator measures the primary structure.
